NEW YORK – The National September 11 Memorial & Museum will hold its yearly ceremony to mark the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. This event honors the 2,983 people who lost their lives in the 2001 attacks at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93, as well as those who died in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
The ceremony, happening on Wednesday, is for the families of the victims. As always, these family members will be invited to read the names of their loved ones who passed away.
The organizers shared that the main purpose of the event is to bring families together at the Memorial Plaza to remember those they lost.
Throughout the ceremony, there will be six moments of silence. These will mark the times when each of the World Trade Center towers was hit and fell, as well as the times of the Pentagon attack and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93.
Bill Ritter will be hosting the coverage on Channel 7 and streaming on all ABC7NY platforms starting at 8:25 a.m.
