She posted on Instagram on Saturday morning to share her side of what happened on stage. She said ” “there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members” of the band.

During a performance at the Leader Bank Pavilion, Jane’s Addiction had just begun playing their popular song “Ocean Size.” However, the band’s lead singer, 65-year-old Perry Farrell, became frustrated. He felt the music was so loud than his vocal that “he was screaming just to be heard.”

“Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” Etty Lou quoted on her IG post.

“Perry had been suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”

A video shows Farrell swearing into the microphone and walking toward the band’s guitarist, Dave Navarro. Then, Farrell is seen hitting Navarro.

After several crew members and bandmate bassist Eric Avery held Farrell back, the concert had to end early.

Backstage, according to Etty Lou, Avery — who she claims “won the fight” — “walked up to Perry, upstage, in the dark, behind Dan, put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times.”

“Perry was a crazed beast for the next half an hour — he finally did not calm down, but did breakdown and cried and cried,” she further continued.

“Eric, well he either didn’t understand what descalation meant or took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry.”

The lead singer had problems with his voice earlier in the week. He mentioned this to the audience during a performance at Pier 17 in New York City that “something’s wrong with my voice.”

Jane’s Addiction is set to perform in Bridgeport, Connecticut this Sunday.
