Rapper Fat man Scoop died after he collapsed during a free concert in Connecticut on Friday night. He was performing when the incident happened, according to reports.
He was 53. The artist from New York, who is actually named Isaac Freeman III, was performing at the “Green & Gold Party” in Hamden. He had a “medical emergency” during the event.
A video on social media shows shirtless Fatman Scoop getting the crowd excited at Town Center Park. He climbed up to the DJ booth platform, but then suddenly he collapsed, out of sight of the audience. Later he was declared dead in the hospital.

In the video and several reports, you can see people doing chest compressions behind the DJ set. Meanwhile, other performers on stage were leading the crowd in prayer. Authorities were called to the park around 8:33 p.m., TMZ reported. The concert was supposed to begin at 7:15 p.m. Fatman Scoop was carried off the stage on a stretcher. He was then taken to a nearby hospital.
The Town Center park is located six miles north of New Haven, Connecticut.
The rapper was supposed to perform at the event last month. However, bad weather caused the event to be postponed to a rainy date in August.
Fatman Scoop is famous for his 1990s club hit “Be Faithful.” This song has gained him millions of views. He also appeared on Missy Elliott’s song “Lose Control,” which reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in October 2005. He’s also been featured on Mariah Carey’s Grammy-nominated song “It’s Like That.” He’s also worked on tracks with Timberland and Magoo, Nick Cannon, and Skrillex.
On Friday morning, Dyce Paso and Fatman Scoop released the official music video for their new song “Let It Go.”
